Think Pink for Breast Cancer: Brands to Support

As a physician, delivering life-changing diagnoses never gets easier. It’s one of the parts of my job that I dislike the most. There are only so many ways you can share unsettling news with an individual and to make a long story short, cancer sucks. And because cancer sucks so much, that’s why we must do what we can to raise awareness and support those battling with this diagnosis.

In case you’ve been living under a rock lol, The month of October specifically focuses on breast cancer awareness. Here are 7 fast facts from the National Breast Cancer Foundation:

  • One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
  • Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.
  • Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women.
  • Each year it is estimated that over 252,710 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,500 will die.
  • Although breast cancer in men is rare, an estimated 2,470 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 460 will die each year.
  • On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and 1 woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes.
  • Over 3.3 million breast cancer survivors are alive in the United States today.

Although breast cancer affects individuals and their families every day of the year, October is a special month to “think pink” or better yet, buy pink. There are tons of companies that pledge to donate a portion of their proceeds from special sales or collections to various breast cancer charity efforts. I have taken the time to curate a list to highlight of a few of these companies. I also separated them by category for easier navigation. Yep. You’re welcome. 🙂 And even though we are about halfway through October, there is still plenty of time to get out and show your support. Click the on the pictures or links directly to shop.

  1. I am passionate about raising awareness of issues like breast cancer so thank you for telling me what brands I should support to donate proceeds. I will be checking out Shoedazzle and beauty bakerie, which I believe is cruelty free, great news for me as a cruelty free blogger! x
